Products & Services
The African Movie Channel, AMC are experts in the African media and entertainment industry and offer a complete consultancy service that encompasses strategy, content, marketing and management.
We have experience of working on major projects, and recently assisted a leading TV platform in sub-Saharan Africa in launching a dedicated African movies and series channel, and we were actively involved in the build and launch of another similar black channel in the USA. We offer a full range of services to TV Operators, Right Owners and Cable networks. Our services include:
TV Operators
- We can help identify the objectives and strategy for developing a new dedicated general entertainment channel using our solid knowledge of the industry and what your customers want. We understand the impact of new technologies such as VOD and PVR and how your strategy can be developed to capitalise on the opportunities they create.
- If your content isn’t right, your customer won’t sign up to your service. We will identify and advice on quality local content leveraging on AMC’s vast contacts and experience. And it’s not just about movies, but a wide range of content to meet all market demands such as series, soaps, sitcoms, talk shows, documentaries, reality TV, etc
- Content QA to ensure consistently high quality and usability of delivered materials; we have been in the VOD arena and operated a pay per view model (which only works as long as there is content viewers are compelled to watch) since 2006, and have therefore perfected the art of identifying and selecting only the best African content.
- We will assist you in developing a content strategy, and with negotiation and renegotiation of content contracts. We have a proven track record in negotiating rights with a wide range of content owners and leading Nollywood and other African production houses.
- Content metadata preparation and management. Content metadata for most African content is either non-existent or utterly unreliable where available. AMC will assist in the preparation of synopsis and metadata for all content licensed for your channel.
- We have built strong relationships with African motion picture houses, program makers and stakeholders, and know how to approach them with new products and ways of delivering their content to audiences. In essence, we can acquire content to help you win and keep your valuable customers.
- Advise and assist with sponsored and commissioned programmes.
- Channel staff support - AMC will provide on-going management support to your channel staff, especially during the early days of the channel.
Rights Owners
Even with the most compelling and sought-after content, if you don’t make the best use of the distribution channels available, you could be losing out on revenue.
With broad experience in the international distribution of programmes and a wide network of contacts we can offer advice on the most effective distribution channels for your content. Our experience with different distribution media means we can maximize the value of your rights through our VOD platform and/or our TV operator clients.
Video-On-Demand (VOD)
The benefits of Video on Demand (VOD) are clear; it gives customers a huge level of freedom and control over what they watch and when. But offering a successful VOD service relies on more than just the technology - it also relies on getting the right content at the right price.
AMC launched the first ever VOD TV channel outside Africa (in the UK) dedicated to African movies from Nollywood (the very popular Nigerian film industry, and the third largest film industry in the world behind Hollywood and India’s Bollywood), and other major African motion picture houses in April 2006 on Tiscali TV. The channel launched online - www.africanmoviechannel.tv and has been available to viewers worldwide since May 2007. We are presently the only outfit in the world offering African movies on-demand at full-screen TV quality as standard anywhere in the world.
AMC has secured worldwide video-on-demand and IPTV rights for over 1000 feature length films, and 100’s of hours of award-winning African drama series.
