Africa's best, 'Tunde Kelani comes to the African Movie Channel this

Celebrated African film maker, Tunde Kelani premieres his works in
the UK
exclusively on the African Movie Channel this August.
"The African motion picture industry has come in leaps and bounds
over the last 13 years" says Kelani. "I'm
inspired by the enormous and still rapidly growing market
for African films and distribution channels like the
African Movie Channel - a leading outlet for quality
movies depicting real and authentic African life. I

Born
in 1948, Tunde Kelani developed an interest in photography
from his primary school days. He holds a Diploma in the Art
and Technique of Filmmaking from the London
International Film
School. After
many years in the Nigerian Film Industry as a cinematographer,
he now manages Mainframe Film & Television Productions,
an outfit formed to document culture. Tunde Kelani has worked
on most feature films produced in the country in his capacity
either as a cinematographer or director.
These are just a few of Tunde Kelani's films coming to
AMC this August...
Thunderbolt (Magun) - Ngozi,
a young Igbo lady and Yinka, a young man of Yoruba origin
meet and fall in love during National Youth Service. Their
eventual marriage against folk wisdom develops problems fuelled
by rumours. In the ensuing drama, Ngozi is laced with 'MAGUN'
- mysterious fatal chastity control. Directed by Tunde Kelani.
Starring Yemi Uche Obi-Osotule, Lanre Balogun, Wale Macauley.
The Campus Queen - Banke,
an official girlfriend of Toks, president of the Heavy Weight Club is a beautiful girl from a strict moral
background but with a strange penchant for dangerous adventure.
Toks tries to trade Banke's beauty for money from some
business barons but Banke escapes. Directed by Tunde Kelani.
Starring Sarah Mbaka, Lanre Fasasi, Tope Idowu.
Ti Oluwa Nile - A
clique of land speculators enlists the help of a traditional
chief to sell ancestral land fraudulently to a business man
who plans to build a petrol station. The community resists,
it ends in court and the culprits win but in retribution, they
start dying one after another in bizarre circumstances. Directed
by Tunde Kelani. Starring Kareem Adepoju, Jide Oyegunle, Yemi
Shodimu.

Durbar - Kano city being
a major city along the trade route in the West African sub-region
came in constant contact with the Arab world during the caravan
era. These factors and more could be responsible for Kano
being largely an Islamic society hence the celebration of the
end of Ramadan fasting goes beyond religious obligation and
becomes a cultural renaissance.
Olojo Festival - There
could not be the Ooni (king of Ile-Ife) or Yorubaland without
Olojo. Olojo came with Oduduwa (the originator of the Yoruba)
in the beginning. Olojo festival is celebrated by all kings
both in Nigeria and in the Diaspora. The
present Ooni is Oba Okunade Sijuwade (Olubuse II of Ife).

The as yet unreleased film - Between
Two Walls - An excellent
story about a young girl who is a victim of circumstances.
Genevieve was born in a very poor home. She lost her mother
at a very tender age and her father has got a long-term illness.
Her wealthy uncle who is in a position to help them refuses
to do so except Genevieve sleeps with him - she had to pay
for the sins of her mother. It's a solid story told like never
before. Directed by Paul Igwe. Starring Desmond Elliot, Kelly
Jossi, Mercy Johnson, Ashley Nwosu, Richard Agbor, Ralph Onu.

Echoes Of War - Based
on a true story. Best film - Screen Nation Film Awards (UK). Echoes
of war tells the emotional tale of Fatima (Judi Shekoni) and
Abdul (Anthony Akposheri), a married couple who get separated
during the war in Sierra Leone
because he tried to be a hero. Presuming each other dead,
they move on to new lives. But their eventual meeting in London
9 years later shatters the brittle peace in their respective
new families. Directed by Obi Emelonye. Starring Anthony
Akposheri, Anthony Beselle, Judi Shekoni.
